aeolian shift 03
featured in my solo show at BMOCA, this drawing is rendered in white acrylic on a flat indigo ground. the drawing traverses 2 conjoined panels. the word aeolian (a homophone for alien) refers to the movement and structures of sediment that are created by wind or air current and is a nod to the resulting structure of the marks.
the 2 chrono-topographies are rendered in a series of .5’’ lines marked at a rate of 1 mark every .5 seconds (.5’’) I became obsessed with the idea that the way we note time in seconds with [ “ ] is exactly the same as the way we note distance in inches [ “ ] meaning that in written or typed expressions time and space are indistinguishable from one another without context — I love the poetry of this and began employing it as part of the systems I use to create my drawings.
This drawing require 36’’ H x 49’’ W of wall space to be installed. (1’’ deep)
this drawing will ship in an oversized custom padded box/crate please select shipping over 48’’ ($100) at checkout
